CASE INTELLIGENCE · CLEAR IMPACT ALTERNATIVE

AI-native data collection. Better decisions.

Clear Impact Alternatives for Program Decision Intelligence

Change the questions you collect, connect interviews to case history and analyze the answers. Your data owner can maintain the workflow—not just view its dashboard.

Evaluating Clear Impact alternatives? The important difference is not whether you can store a file. It is whether the evidence inside it becomes usable in a workflow your team can manage.

DECISION INTELLIGENCE FOR PROGRAMS & PORTFOLIOS. Decision intelligence connects a program measure to the evidence needed to interpret it and the next action to assess. Sopact is an AI-native data collection platform connecting forms, supported files, collected interview transcripts and history. Compare that workflow with Compyle and Scorecard—not metrics versus a platform assumed to have no context.

Data ownership means you can change the design.

Your attendance numbers raise a question the original form never asked. Your data owner should be able to add a follow-up, connect an interview and review it alongside the numbers. Changing the collection design and interpreting the evidence belong in the same workflow.

A documented file-analysis boundary

Compyle’s help guide says data in files attached through its Files tab cannot be used in analytics. Users can download and view them. This is a specific documented limitation—not a claim that Clear Impact cannot analyze any qualitative data or that other file workflows behave identically.

Customer administration does exist

Compyle documents customer tools for forms, analytics, users and roles. Its Unlimited Suite guide also describes a scoped implementation service and administrator training. Those facts do not support calling all Compyle deployments advisor-dependent.

Your team designs the next change

An authorized data owner can revise questions and form logic, maintain contact groups and collection stages, and scope access. Connect files and interviews to the right records, then review them alongside the numbers. Demonstrate those changes with your own team after setup.

The ownership test: Can your authorized data owner make the next routine change, check the result and explain who can see it?

“Attendance dropped” is the start of the conversation.

In his conversation with Unmesh, Marco Botha describes asking Sopact to look for inefficiencies in Open Play’s program. The assistant highlighted a decline in girls’ retention and suggested reviewing late session times and the safety of the walk home.

The suggested responses were practical: move sessions earlier, or arrange for coaches to walk home with the group. The transcript does not establish a measured improvement after those suggestions, or prove that timing caused the decline.

That distinction matters. Useful case intelligence helps a team investigate a pattern and choose a response. It does not turn a plausible explanation into a fact.

Why might participation have changed?

WEEKS 1–2 → WEEKS 3–4

A change worth investigating

Inspect the sample source

Sample attendance: 18 of 20 scheduled visits, then 12 of 20. Same visit-based denominator.

Attendance fell from 90% to 60%. That calculation identifies a change. It does not explain it.

Calculation tells you what moved. Interpretation suggests what to investigate. People decide what to change.

Build the context before asking the question.

01

Keep the evidence together

Use consistent IDs, dates and definitions. Connect narrative evidence to the relevant person or program rather than leaving it in a separate folder.

02

Move between levels

Review a program pattern, then examine the underlying records. A cohort average may hide very different needs.

03

Ask the follow-up

What supports the explanation? What contradicts it? What should be collected next? Analysis should make uncertainty visible.

More people can contribute.
Not everyone gets the same control.

Sopact’s enterprise value is practical: more programs and contributors should not mean unrestricted access or a new reporting rebuild each cycle. The controls below support team-managed work; their setup and behavior need to be checked against your policy.

01

Decide who can change the work

Administrator, editor and viewer roles distinguish configuration, editing and read-only use. Give the people maintaining the workflow the access they need; do not give every contributor administrator access.

02

Scope access as teams grow

Restrict access to selected surveys and filtered records—for example, one location’s responses. Validate the configured policy with both an authorized account and an account that should be excluded.

03

Track the same record over time

Use contact groups and persistent IDs to connect collection stages. Correct setup matters: a matching name is not an identity policy, and an ID does not repair an incorrectly linked record.

04

See whose update is missing

Use response tracking and distribution links to follow collection progress. Distinguish people who have not responded from people reporting no change or no result.

05

Give analysis shared definitions

Keep interpretation instructions and agreed measures with the workflow. Use the calculation engine for quantitative results, then review AI interpretations of written evidence.

06

Keep a responsible human owner

Name who maintains forms, approves definition changes and reviews findings. Self-managed means routine work stays with your authorized team—not that setup, security or judgment disappear.

Choose the workflow you need to run.

Consider Sopact

Choose Sopact when your team needs to own the collection design as well as the data: maintain questions and form logic, connect records across collection stages, set access and review qualitative and quantitative evidence. Routine changes stay with your authorized data owner. Complex migration, custom integrations and initial setup may still need specialist help.

Consider Clear Impact

Clear Impact’s Compyle already connects surveys, case notes, files and outcomes to a longitudinal participant profile. Scorecard adds Results-Based Accountability, performance planning and AI Assist for measure analysis and narrative support. This is a comparison of analysis workflows—not AI versus no AI.

CUSTOMER STORY · OPEN PLAY FOUNDATION

Not a head-to-head benchmark.

Open Play: collect what the team needs to act.

Marco Botha describes using Sopact for participation, staff management, water monitoring and maintenance. A maintenance photo could show a problem he previously might only have found during a site visit. Open Play’s published story also describes bringing ten programs into one funder report. The lesson is practical: collect evidence that helps the team run its programs, then reuse it for reporting. This is not a benchmark against Clear Impact.

See how Open Play uses the evidence ↗

Ask both platforms the same awkward question.

01

Have your data owner add a question and conditional follow-up, connect it to an existing participant group and check that earlier records remain usable.

02

Have your data owner add the next collection stage and ask a question spanning the existing history and new evidence.

03

Test survey-level and record-level boundaries, read-only review and the sources exposed in an answer.

Have your intended data owner perform the changes—not only the vendor’s demo specialist. Record which tasks they can complete, which require help, and whether the evidence and access boundaries still hold. Validate required integrations and migration separately.

Test the change—not just the finished report.

Ask your intended data owner to change one live collection workflow in a safe test environment. The goal is to reduce vendor and IT handoffs for routine changes while keeping the evidence and access rules intact.

01

Change what you collect

Add a question and conditional follow-up. Check how old and new responses will be interpreted.

02

Keep the records connected

Add a collection stage for the right contact group. Confirm IDs and earlier history still connect.

03

Control who can use it

Set the appropriate access, then review a new answer with its sources. Test an excluded user too.

Record the time your own team needs, the help it requests and whether the result is usable. This tests practical independence; it is not a guaranteed rollout time or a claim that another platform cannot make the same change.

The questions
worth asking.

Does Clear Impact already have AI?

Yes. Its Scorecard page documents AI Assist for analysis of measures and help drafting narrative sections. The useful comparison is therefore the evidence each assistant works with and the tasks it supports. Test person-level questions, narrative evidence, source inspection and follow-up questions with the same anonymized material rather than treating an AI label as a differentiator.

Does Clear Impact already keep one record per person?

Yes. Compyle describes a longitudinal participant profile with forms, surveys, notes, files and outcomes. That makes a single record a shared capability, not a unique claim for Sopact. The comparison should investigate how teams use that record to understand change, review explanations and carry learning into their day-to-day work.

Can Sopact replace our RBA workflow?

Do not assume an exact replacement. List the measures, planning routines, partner relationships and public reporting requirements your team relies on. Then demonstrate how each would work in the proposed setup. Sopact may fit a connected collection-and-analysis need, but this page does not claim equivalent RBA training, templates or every Scorecard function.

How do we avoid confusing an AI suggestion with evidence?

Keep the underlying records, calculations and interpretations distinguishable. Ask what supports the explanation, what contradicts it and what remains unknown. Check dates and definitions before comparing groups or periods. In the example above, an attendance change is a calculation; the explanation is a hypothesis that requires staff review and a conversation with participants.

What should a migration trial include?

Use a small, representative set of participant histories and program records. Include repeated surveys, notes, attachments, group membership and access rules. Reconcile calculations using the same definitions, and test the reports and actions staff rely on. No direct connector or lossless transfer from Clear Impact to Sopact has been established by this comparison.

What does self-managed mean after setup?

Self-managed means your authorized data owner maintains routine collection design, access and analysis after setup. Staff can collect data without all becoming administrators. It is not a promise of zero training or zero support: initial configuration, complex migration and custom integrations may need specialists.

Can we change the data design without a vendor or IT request?

Sopact is designed for an authorized data owner to maintain form fields and logic, contact groups, collection stages and analysis definitions. That lets routine workflow changes stay with your team. Test a real change during evaluation, including its effect on history and permissions. Complex migrations and custom integrations are separate work; self-managed does not mean every technical task needs no help.

How this comparison was prepared. Sopact publishes this page. We reviewed official product pages on October 21, 2026 and used the customer material linked above. This is a comparison of documented workflows, not independent product testing. The interactive examples use synthetic data and scripted answers; they are not live AI, screenshots or measured customer outcomes. Configuration, access rules, integrations and migration require validation for your organization.
